Absurd Humour - Dear Agony Aunt: Who Would Choose To Be A Proctologist?

First visit to the proctologist (see enclosed). Not something I'd bend over backwards for. I read something today - did you know that the Ancient Egyptian term for 'proctologist' translates as 'Shepherd Of The Anus'? 

Surely the title attracts a certain personality to the profession? Solitary types. A lugubrious nature bound up in contemplation, and perhaps mixed with a longing for the wide open spaces, is surely not what one seeks in a man slated to administer to that part? 

I know we ought not put any extra demands on our National Health Service but is it asking too much to want someone a little less shepherdy? Your excellent column is just the place to begin a campaign surely?
