For a few years now I have been an on and off member of The Association Of Casual Glancers. At present we are a small association I think. We have been gathering most Sundays usually at a hotel where we take coffee and read the newspapers. Well it's just a casual glance if I'm honest with myself. After which, we wander around casting an eye over a shop-window or two, peek in at a gallery, and perhaps make a brief visit to the library where we might flick open a book or something. Last week for instance we made a visit to the forest where we briefly noticed trees and that.
Sometimes we make special trips out, to hone our glancing skills. As with all skills, casual glancing takes practice I suppose. Oddly these trips frequently disappoint. An ultimately unrewarding visit to the cinema springs to mind. As does a truly badly thought-through day at the firing-range.
Generally though, things are looking up. We have organized some interesting get-togethers with other groups. Last week for instance, our group organized a gathering with the Confederation Of Those Who Barely Listen which, I thought, went rather well.
